The class which held on the 27th of February explored Confessional Writing. The class commenced with an Acrostic Poem exercise where participants were tasked with writing Acrostic poems which came out very rich and deep in their content.
One of the key features of confessional writing is that it explores taboo subjects like racism, mental health, suicide, sexuality, and disability. Another key feature is that it carries raw power and authenticity from the writer.
Writers spent some time writing creative pieces using the confessional writing approach, and after thirty minutes, the writings were examined by the group. The session ended with participants going home to develop further, their confessional pieces.
