BAME Mental Health Support (BMHS) successfully hosted its Interview Preparation & Job Applications Workshop this week, equipping participants with practical tools to boost their confidence in pursuing employment opportunities.
A highlight of the session was a presentation from Anthony Bozzola of HM Prison & Probation Service (Wales), who shared invaluable insights into applying for civil service roles and preparing for interviews.
BMHS was also delighted to welcome officials from Swansea Council, who visited to observe the breadth of weekly community support delivered by BMHS. These include mental health and employability guidance, bespoke services for children and young people, and tailored information, advice, and support for elders.

During the visit, participants expressed their appreciation for Swansea Council’s initiatives—particularly the free weekend bus travel scheme, which runs from 19 July to 31 August 2025. The council-led initiative, now in its fifth year since launching in the school summer holidays of 2021, has helped families across Swansea take part in community and wellbeing activities.
One participant shared their experience with Cllr Alyson Anthony, Cabinet Member for Wellbeing:
“The free bus scheme by Swansea Council enabled me to participate in all the activities BMHS organised across Swansea—including Three Cliffs Bay, Rhossili Bay, Pure Football, Penllergaer, and Clyne Gardens. I was able to attend with my family members, and we had a truly memorable summer holiday with the kids.”
Alfred Oyekoya, Director of BMHS, said:
“We are grateful for the continued support from Swansea Council and partners like HM Prison & Probation Service. Together, we are helping individuals build employability skills, strengthening families, and improving the wellbeing of our community.”
