Pupils and parents at Ysgol Cwm Brombil took part in a Culturally Sensitive Health & Wellbeing Workshop held between Thursday 10th March 2022 and Thursday 17th March 2022.
Swansea Bay University Health Board in partnership with Neath Port Talbot Council for Voluntary Services, Western Bay Community Cohesion Team, Swansea Council Community Cohesion Team, BAME Mental Health Support, NPT Mind and Ysgol Cwm Brombil worked together to ensure the successful delivery of the workshops.
Shaz Abedean, Team Lead for Engagement and Outreach at Swansea Bay University Health Board said “the hope to explore the different cultures and communities within our neighbourhoods as well as look at ways to manage our wellbeing better was achieved in a fun and interactive manner”
Jodie from NPT Mind, who ran the workshop for pupils, said: “What made the workshop so successful was the enthusiasm of all pupils.”
Alfred, Director of BMHS, who led the session for adults said “when you have a workshop that participants can collectively show their vulnerability through tears, smile & laughter and eventually gained an understanding of common mental health issues and the knowledge and confidence to advocate for mental health awareness, then the objective of the session was excellently achieved”

J Tomkins of Ysgol Cwm Brombil said “Our pupils really enjoyed the immersive workshop, and the feedbacks were amazing to say the least. We prioritise the protection, safety, and security of the children within our care and aim to prepare all of our students for the real world through hands-on learning in a stimulating environment.”
BMHS is a not-for-profit organisation focused on education and advocacy to inspire a mentally healthy BAME community by providing support appropriate to their mental health and wellbeing. We believe that mental health and physical health should be valued equally
