Creative Writing Update: Utopias, Imagined Futures and Dreamscapes

During yesterday’s class, we looked at Utopias, dreamscapes and imagined futures. The class commenced with participants being asked to write a few lines about a moment, situation or activity from the weekend that was great in some way e.g. happy, warming, welcome and content. Great pieces were written by various participants and developed further.

Utopias in literature was discussed with several examples including moral, religious, economic, and technological. The class then explored pace and how to apply it in writing. The components of pacing were described as narration, action, dialogue, internalization, and description.

Writers went back to their writing corners to work on their pieces further, which was read to the class. The class ended with appreciation of everyone’s efforts and tasked to creatively develop their work for the next class.
