Another interesting class held yesterday, 22/05/2023. The class focused on character development in any kind of writing that a writer is engaging with. The class commence3d with a little brainstorming exercise where writers were asked to create their own fictional characters with flaws and weaknesses. Some of the attributes to consider in a character include sexuality, family, love interest, occupation, goals, physical attributes, lifestyle, and habits.
This exercise was following by the creation of a few lines of story using the attributes of the characters. Each writer read out his / her own short story and received feedback from the course tutor. The class also had a refresher on pace, writing place, confessional genre as they all relate to character development.
The class ended with appreciation of everyone’s efforts and tasked to creatively develop their work for the next class.
